Directions to Timbuk Christmas Tree Farm
2030 Timbuk Road, Granville, OH 43023

Timbuk Farms is one of Central Ohio’s oldest and largest Christmas tree farms. The first crop was planted in 1952, presently the farm spans 300 acres.
When the dream of a Christmas tree farm became a reality for the Schmidt family, Granville was quite remote from their home in Columbus. So a drive to the farm was like a trip to Timbuktu. That became the name of the farm, shortened and simplified to "Timbuk."
With many native species of trees, meadows of grasses and wildflowers, rolling hills and three large ponds, Timbuk Farms is a unique environment, and sanctuary for wildlife.
Over the years, Timbuk Farms has been involved in the research and development of evergreen species that are suitable for Christmas trees. In particular Timbuk Farms has had a major role in developing the Canaan fir as a great Christmas Tree for Ohio.
In the fall of 2004, after 53 successful years in business, the Schmidt family retired and turned the farm and greenhouses over to a new family of operators, Jim and LaVonda Gibson of Granville. They both have a strong knowledge base of the horticultural industry and through the use of new technologies and automation are dedicated to producing the highest quality products. The Timbuk Farms name reflects the ties to the rich tradition and hospitality of the tree farm and the new energy and commitment to service and quality in the entire farm and greenhouse business.

TAKING HOME THE PERFECT TREE
Any tree that is ready for harvest will have it’s own price tag attached to it right in the field. There are literally thousands of trees to choose from and you are free to take as long as you wish in picking from a wide variety of sizes, kinds and prices. Some tree fields contain trees which are not quite ready for harvest, these trees are not tagged and are not available this season. This is done to allow some trees to reach their best for a future Christmas.
In general, our trees are priced according to how uniform a particular tree is compared to its neighbors and it's height. Some varieties (species) grow to harvest size in 7 years while others require 12 or more years of tender loving care. Almost all of our trees are at least 5 to 6 feet tall when tagged for harvest. It is very easy to find a great selection of full sized trees to choose from varying in price from $20.00 to $85.00+. The hard ("fun") part is in deciding which Christmas tree is the right one for you.
There are special orange tags on some trees, these are what we call Charlie Brown Christmas Trees. These are great trees for doing anything your imagination might desire. They can be used for a table top tree with boughs left over to decorate inside or out. They make great trees for a child or any extra location that might enjoy an evergreen friend. These are the lowest priced trees ($6 - $19), due to their irregular shape and size.

A graceful traditional, averaging 6 to 8 feet tall with very soft long needles and soft branches. Long lasting color and great needle retention.

A classic all the way, averaging 7 to 11 feet tall with soft short needles and firm branches. Great long lasting color good needle retention and an aroma that is Christmas.

A Timbuk Farms favorite and first breed right here in Ohio. This new beauty is a cousin to the popuar Fraiser Fir averaging 6 to 15 feet tall with firm soft, short needles and branches that beg for ornaments. Wonderful color, good needle retention and lasting evergreen aroma. A specialty of Timbuk Farms!

A generous choice, averaging 6 to 10 feet and very full with short firm needles and countless branches. Great color and good needle retention with care. Needles can be a bit sharp but a lot of tree for the money.

Colorado blue spruce, or blue spruce, is an attractive tree for Christmas trees or as ornamentals, particularly. It has a narrow, pyramidal shape and cone-shaped crown. Needles are blueish gray to silvery blue and1-1 1/2 inches long on lower branches but somewhat shorter on upper branches.

This tree is a widely planted tree for Christmas trees. Needle retention is good growing in bundles from 1 to 3 inches long. Harvesting up to 8' this season.
